This white paper project titled “The Risks of Unproven Surgical Robots” was a research project that demonstrates an understanding of human and technology systems integration. This paper addresses advancements in technology as well as identifying risks associated with the use of technology in healthcare and identifies solutions to potentially reduce those risks.
This artifact demonstrates an understanding of Failure Mode Effects and Analysis (FMEA) that was applied to a system design. The Waverly Family Health Services was a mock healthcare clinic going through an EHR implementation, the FMEA was used to analyze potential problems within a process such as hardware failure due to slow or lagging internet connection. The FMEA process illustrates analytical skills in identifying what could go wrong, rating the severity of identified issues, and identifying corrective actions.
The EHR implementation project plan was prepared for the Waverly Family Health Services and combined multiple systems design and management skills such as demonstrating an understanding of FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, and human and technology systems and integration. This artifact introduced me to work-flow mapping, scheduling projects with a ganttchart, and cause and effect diagrams.
